Counselling focus is on the past, where the client comes with problems that may require personal healing and that are usually of an emotional nature. Counselling can often be open ended. Coaching is about looking to the future, visiting the past for learnings and resources for a forward growth focus. Clients can come with both positive and negative topics with coaching helping you see different perspectives for you to unlock your own answers...which help you clarify, decide, and take action. Usually uses a fixed duration but this is not set in stone.
